Description

This is a $600 SFF gaming build in a NR200. This build circumvents the premiums for an ITX mobo and a SFX PSU by using a smaller-than-usual mATX board and a shorter ATX PSU. The case loses one of the plastic retention clips for the bottom panel to fit the board, which is a minor loss. The ATX PSU is stuck in place with 3M adhesive removable fastener pads.

This setup overclocks better than I expected. The 3100 runs at 4.4GHz all-core on 1.15Vcore. The RAM is Micron E-die that runs at 3600C16. The 1660 runs at stock 1660Ti levels with an overclock of 2130 MHz core, 4990MHz VRAM.

CPU Temps are 75C under torture, <70C in games. GPU @ 67C in Furmark. The Arctic P12 is lined up with the CPU cooler to supply fresh air.

Part Reviews

CPU

My Ryzen 3 3100 is an overclocking monster. 4.4GHz all-core at 1.15Vcore stable through torture tests at 75C on the stock cooler. This is good enough for most people not using their CPUs for computation.

Motherboard

Solid budget board with 3 fan headers. This is the max height that will fit in a Cooler Master NR200.

Memory

Best bang for buck overclocking RAM. It's 3200C16 and will run 3600C16 without breaking a sweat.

Storage

DRAM means it's a consistent performer. It's the best bang-for-buck SSD from a reputable company.

Video Card

Overclocking monster. GPU can be overclocked to 2130MHz, VRAM to 4990, yielding 1660Ti levels of performance.

Case

A great ITX case. Will fit some smaller mATX motherboards and ATX power supplies. Airflow and build quality are impeccable.

Power Supply

Good, cheap PSU. Fan is silent. Compact enough to fit in a SFF case.

Nice build. When i see this case, i try to find if any mATX motherboard can fit in this. So, you already did it! Please upload more pictures from this build!

Could we get more pictures of the pc? I wanna see the whole thing from a few angles. Very interesting that you got to 4.4 ghz on the stock cooler... gonna have to remember that for later, I'm looking to upgrade my personal PC's cpu, but I've been waiting for the 3300x.

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 7 months ago

I was waiting for the 3300X as well, but that thing is a unicorn. The 3100 does well enough for me, and I'll be looking at a 4000 mid-range to upgrade to, if needed.

Edit: More pics uploaded

I fit ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 with ARESGAME 500W PSU into this case. Motherboard just barely fit, and PSU is mounted with daisy-chained zip ties

CM released a 3D printable mount for ATX psus if you want to use that.

Nice! Good to see them supporting the versatility of the NR200. I don't have a 3D printer handy, so it would've been better to just include a $2 bent metal bracket.

I got some guy to 3d print me one for £10 so quite cheap all things considered.

Can you place case fans at the bottom with the motherboard?

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 6 months ago

Yes, it will fit 120mm case fans at the bottom, as long as your power/USB/fan header connections don't jut out too much.

xandep

Is there any space left under you motherboard because the height limit for the case is 244mm and my motherboard board is 244mm. But when i checked you motherboard is 230mm and it already looks like a tight fit.

Mlemm14
  • 4 years 4 months ago

244mm is the width limit. Height limit is at 230mm: can confirm.

How many fans did you add to what the case already has? Do you think there would be any issues using a 3600 instead of a 3100?

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 4 months ago

I added one fan pointed at the stock CPU cooler. You should be totally fine with a 3600. This case is really great for cooling performance.

is it possible you can show more pics of the pc and would this run competitive games like fort, val and r6 at what fps?

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 7 months ago

This should do great with esports titles, depending on your resolution, settings, and expectations. I haven't installed any of those 3 games yet (will probably try Valorant soon), but I'm getting 300+ fps on CS:GO uncapped.

Does the case support micro atx?????

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 7 months ago

Only limited microATX motherboards without modification. As far as I know, only the Asus Prime -K and Asrock HDV motherboards fit.

Ryzin
  • 4 years 6 months ago

What about the Asus Prime B450-A/CSM? What’s the criteria for it to fit?

xandep
  • 4 years 6 months ago

The max motherboard dimensions are 244 x 226mm. My msi b450 pro-m2 max fits.

Zack_E_Boi
  • 4 years 5 months ago

did you have any issues getting it in? ie: breaking the case

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 6 months ago

The Asus Prime -A boards won't fit, only -K. The criteria is the height.

DDZ_76
  • 4 years 5 months ago

All I need to know is how you fit an ATX power supply in there

Zack_E_Boi
  • 4 years 5 months ago

Coolermaster has a 3d printable bracket for ATX PSUs, if you dont have a 3d printer you can find them (the brackets) on ebay and stuff

Awesome build! Do you have any pics on how you mounted your PSU?

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 4 months ago

The 2nd and 3rd photo should give you an idea. The PSU is mounted with 2-sided adhesive pads from 3M that are detachable, kind of like velcro but with plastic locking pins.

Nice looking build, built similar for my dad but a full mATX board in a different case.

For my next build I'm thinking of reusing my current case and moving my current build (asrock h110m-dgs/i5-7600k/rx590) to this case as asrock likes to call their "FlexATX" boards mATX. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/cruisngrrl/saved/MQ9TnQ

Any plans on water cooling? My current build above is watercooled and I planned on just buying the water cooling kit for the next build and keeping the rad/pump in my current case and installing the new rad/pump into the NR200

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 3 months ago

This was my first build in a while, so I kept it simple with air cooling. Water cooling a 3100 is way overkill, even a high-end air cooler would be pointless.

The NR200 is probably the best SFF case for water cooling. There are some really impressive dual-rad setups in this case. There are mounting points for pumps and reservoirs; it's well laid-out. Best of luck with the transplant!

awesome, Im planning to build like this but with ryzen 3 3200g, work good now?

seoultrain1
  • 3 years 11 months ago

Yep, still going well! I've made some changes; it has a 2060 in it now, and I'm getting an SFX PSU because I found a deal on it.

would my 301x144x55 gpu fit with this same motherboard if my atx psu is 140x150x86?

seoultrain1
  • 3 years 10 months ago

It could if you mount the PSU higher into the space for the top mount fan.

saady
  • 3 years 5 months ago

Cool

Rockreactor
  • 3 years 2 months ago

The motherboard you are using is 230mm high while the case theoretically supports up to 226mm.

Did you have to do any further modifications to fit the motherboard? Also did you have any issue with any header or cable ? E.g. gpu or installing 120mm fans at the bottom.

Nice build ! A decent mini ITX mobo costs like 200$, thus i am looking for alternatives as well.

To anyone looking into this like I did for better part of a day now, there are two additional current (in stock) motherboards found in most ecommerce stores that fit into this case:

  • Asus PRIME A520M-E
  • Asus PRIME A520M-K

In my country, they cost 60 EUR and 65 EUR respectively right now. Couple this case (70 EUR) + one of these motherboards with perhaps even a slightly undervolted Ryzen 7 5700X (190 EUR right now) = total 320 EUR. That's the cost of some ITX cases or motherboards.

I'm not sure whether the motherboard could handle a 4070 on top of the Ryzen 7, but the new 4060 coming out in July should probably be fine.

Might be a good entry into small form factor PCs. Easy on the wallet, possibility to reuse a lot of parts from your old build, etc.

I wouldn't get too excited for this case. The Amazon link is gone leaving a $170 listing. I'm waiting for them to suddenly cancel my order.

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 7 months ago

The case is going to be hard to get with international shipping difficulties, but it will eventually become available again. If you have an order in, you should get one by the estimated date when you ordered.

Gatordontplay
  • 4 years 7 months ago

How convenient for Cooler Master and Amazon to have the perfect excuse. I ordered my case 8/16/2020 still hasn't shipped and all it tells me is it might ship by Sept. 9th but I doubt it at this point. Seriously ticks me off they only sent out enough to tick off the folks that didn't receive their order. Seriously turned off to Cooler Master at this point. Great build btw sorry for drama I just want people to be aware.

seoultrain1
  • 4 years 7 months ago

Amazon is pretty good with their ship date estimates. Obviously no guarantees, though. Best of luck!

Gatordontplay
  • 4 years 7 months ago

This is the second time Amazon has done this with a product they only provide so at this point I am over relying on shipping estimations.

CM has a 3d-printable ATX PSU bracket on their website if you want a more polished look.
