Description

hi :)

so this is pretty much my first build. i'm going to use it for editing, music production, and gaming, of course.

now i might be biased coming from an i5 9400f/1660 SUPER/8gb ram combo, but this thing is a BEAST!! it absolutely trounces everything i throw at it. one thing, the gpu was a veeeery tight fit as you can see. it's just a few mm gap between the gpu and the radiator, so you have to tilt the card a little to get it in the case, but then you can straighten it out and put it in.

it didn't really take too long to build. i spent the most time on cable management, which i am super happy about. i think i did pretty good for my first try :)

i have not tried ray tracing on this thing yet, let alone any games outside of valorant and overwatch 2. i get ~400-500 fps on valorant at max settings though, which just goes to show how powerful this beast is, even though valorant can run on an undercooked potato.

i don't see above 15% cpu usage while on a fairly intensive ableton project. the 5900x is a BEAST when it comes to music production, a field that relies on the cpu quite a bit.

wifi has been acting up, i'm not sure if it's the pc or my wifi. my other pc had no issues, so that leads me to believe that it's either the pc or the mobo antenna.

might mess with the fan curves a bit more and see if i can't get it any better.

thanks for reading! if you have any questions about this build, just leave a comment and i'll try my best to answer it asap.

Part Reviews

CPU

definitely overkill for what i do. this puppy runs quite a bit hot though, coming from an i5 9400f. it hasn't gotten to 90 yet with a 280mm, so we're still good.

CPU Cooler

my first AIO, it works perfectly fine. pump is practically inaudible. my only recommendation, CHANGE THE FANS. i haven't even bothered with the original fans, but you get better cooling performance and a quieter build with noctua or any other low db fans.

Motherboard

i dunno. it's a motherboard i guess. 0 problems and it has tons of usb ports. also, io shield is built in and the rear IO is all black, leading to a seamless look on black cases. my only issue is that the wifi has been worse than on my old prebuilt, but that might just be my wifi.

Memory

lots of space on these guys. i'll never run out of ram now! honestly, i don't notice anything wrong so i guess that's how you know it's a good product. nice and fast ram, they look pretty good too.

Storage

hoo boy, coming from a sata III drive, i'm speechless. it's so fast. i no longer have time to prepare myself while loading into the "choose your agent" screen on valorant.

Video Card

bit of coil whine which is annoying on a quiet build like mine, but tbh i don't hear it much with headphones. this thing is fast and keeps relatively cool while gaming. driver software is nice and user friendly too! solid buy over the 3080.

Case

as it turns out, this is not the case that i wanted. oh well, it's still pretty good. the only way to fit a 280mm rad is on the front, so make sure you get a card no more than 300mm long. don't buy a 340mm one like me. it fits, but it's maybe 1mm away from touching the rad. this case has a good amount of airflow.

Power Supply

brrrr power. the cables are a little stiff out of the box but it hasn't blown up or caught on fire yet, so that's good.

Case Fan

it's a fan. very quiet and moves a lot of air. i use it as an exhaust and it works great.

Case Fan

perfect for AIO replacement fans. these babies love to spin up at idle though, so set a pretty aggressive fan curve immediately. they're near silent nonetheless.

What temps are you getting at stock fan settings for the CPU cooler?

i changed the fan curve immediately because it would ramp up way too fast, but with my fan curves, i don't see it going past 75-80

Nice to know the 6800 XT really fits in an H5 flow! I'm planning to build my pc soon and that was the only thing I wasn't certain about! Thanks.

yep! if you have a 280mm radiator like i do, it'll be close, but it still fits. if you have a 240mm, i would recommend mounting it on the top.
