Description

First time PC build, first time water cooling, first time for any of this.

I've always been interested in water cooled PCs and how awesome they look but wasn't ready to invest in something like that yet. Until my little sister took over my only laptop. Then I decide what the heck why not just go all out now and do it and just learn along the way. I did have a friend help me connect and test all the components first to make sure everything worked and I didn't blow something up. But other then that I replaced all the hardware with waterblocks, created the loop, cut and bent all the acrylic tubing. No leaks.

I'm all about aesthetics and the hardware itself is powerful enough for everything I'm going to use it for anyways so that's why I focused half the budget on just water cooling. It's overkill but you can't say it's not unique. I wanted to go for a deconstructed yet clean look. My other main focus was to integrate it into my loft somehow and what better way then to build it into the wall of it. The PC is about 4ft tall and 14in wide total and sits between two 2x4 studs. Each component is mounted on the sheathing with standoff spacers and screws between them. So all the wire and things are managed on the other side of the wall so everything looks clean. Filling the loop was the trickiest part but I figure it out after 2-3 tries. Which is why there is a pump at the bottom and top to create enough flowrate.

Of course I would change somethings, and would like to fix some of the bends but overall I think it looks better the I imagined in the beginning and it was worth it. The funnest part was just doing the build itself. I'm still working on the desk setup, art, and decorations.

Hope you guys enjoy it as much as i do.

Note: I know I could have invested more in performance and made a generic PC but that's not what this was about. This is a passion build and meant to be another art piece in my home that I can enjoy.

3/10 you didn't watercool the PSU or the keyboard /s

This is a supreme build. I wouldn't be surprised if this got featured.

SUCH A SHAME! It was so close to perfection had he just liquid cooled the liquid cooler too lol

Seriously - I'm a FAN. For a first timer its more than a great effort but ENTHUSIASM & MOD-EXQUISITENESS REDEFINED.

+1 and then some!!

Hehehe this is the best comment! Made me laugh so hard. And thanks a lot!

I know...so hard to find those blocks.

Thanks

  • 6 years 7 months ago

Just do a little CAD and order one CNC'd. :)

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

I'm definitely doing custom waterways for the next time I ever do anything like this again.

BetrayedPredator
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Well good luck

Blocks are hard to CNC due to the tolerances needed and if you want anything more than a hunk of metal

If you meant a water distribution block, then that is more reasonable for a beginner :D

And they can look great

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Yes water distribution block

100% Agree not water cooling your keyboard is so 2017, Spends 2k on watercooling parts but doesnt cool the Keyboard. Total Pleb

Wow.. Lots going on here... Pic 14 showed me the best. This is an extremely well put together loop and pc! Congrats and fingers crossed for a feature!! +1

You left out water cooling the mouse pad. Tonnes of friction on that.

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Actually I'm trying to figure out want to do for a mouse pad cause I want to show off the raw wood desk but don't want the mouse to rub into it over prolonged use and time.

SirHalpin
  • 6 years 7 months ago

better to get an extended mousepad for keyboard and mouse, protects them and the desk

NewVoid
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Get a wooden designed mouse pad? Or can you get transparent if you have a laser mouse?

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

hm yah maybe transparent

Amzing build! +1 What's the block above the motherboard for? I saw there were already blocks for the cpu, ram, and gpu; and I can't think of anything else it would be for.

Simulint
  • 6 years 7 months ago

VRM water block.

DRogGTX
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Wow, I didn't even know they made those.

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

It’s actually just a reservoir for the secondary pump.

LibriLector
  • 6 years 7 months ago

The VRM block is the two pipes on the right side of the CPU, the one above is just another reservoir.

Wow...you completely put people who preface their descriptions with "first-time build" (including me) to shame. This hurts my soul : (

Props to you for an amazing looking build. Hardly need to look at the actual specs to know this is a serious rig. Even bigger kudos for learning all this stuff on the way. I just finished my first PC build, and not only was I on a budget but I was also just too scared to intentionally put liquid in my rig just yet...

Congrats on this absolute beast of a machine!

P.S. Do you mind posting pictures of your actual setup (desk, monitor, keyboard, mouse) and perhaps a more zoomed out picture of your rig in the wall? I'd love to see that too as I'm sure you didn't slack on the aesthetics there ;)

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Thanks so much! The liquid part of it is a lot easier and less dire then you might think. I was worried about leaks at first too but after I got going I was actually really confident that there’s no way it would unless I forgot to tighten something. You should totally do it when you get a chance. I will take some more pictures when I get back and upload them.

pirao
  • 6 years 7 months ago

It will definitely be a few years till I feel my current rig needs an upgrade, but by that time, I'll be out of college, with more money and time on my hands, and it will definitely be something I'm going to take a look at in the future. : )

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

You’ll definitely enjoy it guarenteed! And there so many videos and resources out there now that can teach you anything you don’t know. I also figured out some pretty good tips along the way that would help you whenever you do your next rig.

dang that's a crazy build! I see a feature coming soon!!! Congrats on the first PC build - one of the most amazing builds I've seen.

Thanks a lot! That’s the reaction I hope to get from everybody hehe

TJC_2063
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Something about hardline with clear coolant and lighting makes for a really sleek and sexy build. Come on feature +1!

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

I know right! I like that it’s not just a one trick pony and you have options to change its aesthetics to suit your current style and the even if I decided to add colored fluid or whatever later, it would still look good.

  • 6 years 7 months ago

Great build my friend. Love that your tubing does more than just go from point A to point B. This is the type of stuff I want to do when I can afford to.

Again, great job. Feature well deserved!

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

That was actually something I really thought about and didn't like about other builds that I saw. Hope you get a chance one day, one of the best things I've experienced and done in my life. Thank you

Is there a picture of the other side where the wires are going?

Edit: crap I didn't say how awesome and inspiring this was! +1 for sure! This is litterally the coolest first timer build I have seen!

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

The other side is actually my open closet with cloths and hanging scarves covering all the wires. I can still take a picture if you'd like.

GameNight523

Ah ok thats fine

nfogray
  • 6 years 7 months ago

5/7. Absolutely love it. Can't imagine how you got that filled up and I don't see a drain valve anywhere. Seems like DDC would have been better then the D5 as you're certainly fighting gravity. The third reservoir seems pretty unnecessary (not that hard line water cooling is ever really "necessary" to begin with so I guess that isn't at all the point) but it looks great!

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Yah I figured out that I need two pumps to have enough force to fill the loop. I got the D5 cause I didn't want 2 pumps that looked the same plus the D5 pump is really only to fill the loop and is on low all the time. The 2 connecting reservoirs are more for aesthetics and symmetry.

What the in actual F###! Dude this is by far the craziest looking build! Awesome job. Congrats on the feature! +10!

khaznh

Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it that much hehe

AidinLMcLaurin
  • 6 years 7 months ago

It would be super dope if you built a frame around the PC and kinda had it built into the wall. Awesome setup.

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Actually there is another addition I want to make but I haven't figured out all the logistics yet

Vreaker12

Holly mother of water cooling.... Damn... what can i say ? I don't even know how to look at it or what am i even looking at. I wanted to say "nice work" but this is so confusing. O.o

Upgrade your chair before the GPU please.

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Actually I prefer this chair than most computer chair out there. You would be surprised how much more comfortable a fitted chair. An aesthetically most computer desk chairs are hideous.

Passion build of highest imagination! Love the desk too, giving me ideas - thanks. I'd love to build this. Any tips is welcome. Thanks :)

Hehe thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I'm actually getting kind of bored and want to do copper tubing with it.

Chucklesyt
  • 6 years 3 months ago

jeeezzz usually you wanna start out with something simple when diving into your first build, heck i still don't know if i believe you or not but first build or not this thing is an absolute work of art.

What RAM blocks are those and how'd you get 'em to light up so smexy?

khaznh
  • 6 years 2 months ago

They are ek blocks and I just attached an led strip on the right side similar to how all the other blocks you see light up.

LibriLector
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Not only is the build amazing, but the photography is really awesome too. I've seen many good builds look like crap because of bad photography. How did you take such good pictures? Especially in the dark. Was it a good camera, just skill, or both?

On a side note, I've heard that bubbles in the loop are bad, did those work their way out or was it just for the pictures?

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Heheh thanks a lot, glad someone appreciates it. I actually don't have a camera and just used my iphone. I was surprised as well how much it picked up. You can see on some pictures that a little fragmented.

Yes they worked themselves out no more bubbles, those were earlier pictures. I actually wish they could stay and always looked like that and didn't affect anything hehe. Looks so much cooler to me. Especially since I'm going for a modern laboratory look overall.

LibriLector
  • 6 years 7 months ago

Yea, I thought the bubbles looked pretty cool. At first I thought you had some extra tubes that were not connected to the loop with a bubble machine in them.

What iPhone do you have? those are way better pictures than what I got with my phone. admittedly I only had an 8mp camera on a $100 phone... I haven't tried taking pictures with my new 13mp phone camera.

khaznh
  • 6 years 7 months ago

It's just an iphone 7 regular, don't know what camera it has.
